How long will my Stop Payment remain in place?
A Stop Payment is effective for six months from the date of the online request. If the check is presented before the six months has expired, the check will be returned as “Stop Payment”. If a check is presented or represented after the expiration of the Stop Payment, the check may be paid unless the Stop Payment is renewed and such renewal has not expired.
Renewing an existing Stop Payment is accomplished by creating a new Stop Payment for an additional six months after the expiration of the initial Stop Payment.
