How do I sign up for Direct Deposit?

Signing up for Payroll direct deposit

If you would like to sign up for Payroll direct deposit, you will need to contact your employer's Payroll or Human Resource department to verify that they offer direct deposit. If your employer does offer direct deposit, they will provide you with the forms necessary to set up your direct deposit.

Signing up for Federal or Social Security direct deposit

The U.S. Government offers a variety of ways to sign up for direct deposit.

To set up direct deposit by phone, call 1-800-772-1213 to speak with a Social Security representative.

Online

To sign up for direct deposit online, visit www.godirect.gov, then in the top navigation bar, click on the Enroll Online Now link.

By mail – Social Security

To sign up for direct deposit by mail, complete and print out the following FMS Form 1200 and mail it to the address listed on the form.
